A Day in the Life of Chocolate

These are the chocolates that arrived from Harry & David for Father's Day and Mom's birthday. Fortunately, Kathleen took some pictures which I forwarded to the purveyor as evidence. While their customer service was very apologetic, they really didn't jump through any hoops to right the situation other than send a replacement box a week later. I think it must've been shipped by covered wagon.

Since this was my second bad experience with Harry & David recently, and third overall, I think next time I'll stick with 1-800-FLOWERS. Or, maybe a gift card for Red Lobster.

In Loving Memory of Aunt Viv

I learned from my sister, Carrie, today that our Aunt Viv passed away. She was one of the sweetest souls on the planet. When ever I would come to town, Dad would always make sure we stopped by to visit "Aggie". And she was always there with a big smile and an even bigger hug. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Here's a picture of Brian after graduating from Basic Combat Training at Ft. Benning. I have a few more to post. I asked him how it was and he said, "Easy". I suppose now I'll have to write the Base Commander and have them toughen things up, 'cause it didn't seem easy when I did it. Of course, that was a long time ago.

The Second Amendment is Alive and Well

My grandson, Brian turned eighteen a week ago. This makes it legal for me to take him to a firing range. So yesterday, we went to an indoor shooting range and killed a bunch of targets. It was his first time using an actual firearm, so we went slowly.

However, he got the hang of it and we spent about an hour-and-a-half exercising our second amendment right to keep and bear arms. It was an enjoyable afternoon. In another week, he will be staring a new chapter in his life, shipping off to Ft. Benning, Georgia to join the Army.

Nine weeks of Basic Combat Training, followed by sixteen weeks at Ft Hood, Texas to become a combat medic. From there he will return to Ft. Benning for three weeks of Airborne Jump School.

What the future brings from there, we shall see.

Thought I would take a moment and post a greeting to all...Hello!!

Caitlin is home for now after finding out that being away for school is a bit more difficult than she thought - LOL! She took this past semester off and is enrolled for the summer semester at a local college in town. I am thrilled to have her home except that I suspect I saw more of her when she was away at school! She stays so busy working and visiting with friends that it seems we only have time to pass one another at the front door.

Eric is almost finished with school and will be starting high school in the fall. Par for the course he is not concerned with high school at all but keeps asking me when hockey season begins. I waited far too long to try hockey on him (having tried every other less expensive sport first) and now he is addicted. I must say the experience has been great for him - he bonded with his team, worked harder than I have ever seen him work and burned off some energy. For now he is simply gazing at his skates and waiting until September.

I am home for a bit. The company I was working for is very closely tied to the automotive industry and given current economic conditions layoffs were necessary. The upside is that it has given me time to finish some home projects and help Mom & Dad with some projects around their house. I am working on getting my resume out there and am considering taking my time by working temporary jobs until I find one that makes me happy. Sadly I absolutely loved the company I worked for. I had been there 8 years and was excited to go to work every Monday. Very strange experience! I doubt I will find something like that again, but at least now I know the environment I enjoy the most.

I posted some more pics of the kids from Easter. Isaac is getting over the flu which he just gave to the baby-it seems like a never ending cycle of sickness around here :( Ava is getting tubes put in her ears at the end of the month, which will help with all the infections.

Happy "late" Mother's Day to all the mamas-I spent a nice one with my kids, my mom and Adam :)

Jim is working on a family tree to recognize all Walter decendants. In response to Ida's email inquiry (where's your profile? Ida, on the Family blog? hahhaha... Cousin Kathleen Laura Maiberger's biological father is Robert E. Walter (Uncle Bob)...Adoptive parents Orville and Wilma Walter.

My darling children, your second cousins are Sarah Maiberger Meteer and Mark 'Adam' Maiberger.

Will post photos soon of my family, including adorable grandbabies Isaac Adam and Ava Joy Meteer.

Lisa Fabish (Bob Walter Fabish's beautiful wife is working to add posts and photos, as well.

Well, here I am posting my first blog. I'm not sure I know totally what I'm doing but what the heck. Anyway, greetings from Milwaukee, WI. The big news in Milwaukee today is that it got up to 60 degrees! Now, I know some of you are laughing about that but I'm going to post the temperature again in mid-July!

Greetings from Mentone Beach, Ca. We just moved into a nice 4bed house and are loving it! The kids are getting so big, and more wonderful each day. Isaac will be 4 and Ava turns 2, both this summer. I'm going back to work in two months after being at home with the kids for 2 years. Having some mixed emotions, but overall am excited for the change. Billy's plumbing business is thriving-a blessing in these times. Well, this is a start-look forward to hearing from you all. Hi Mom :)
